projects
arthur+martha combine passion for artistic exploration with projects that have positive health and social outcomes. We are the leading innovators of art/poetry in the UK arts and health field. We help ordinary voices to be heard in places of privilege – art spaces, billboards, libraries, news media, books and websites.

Recent Projects

PATIENCE

Patience was a project with hospital patients, staff and visitors, to create an insider’s guide to illness using poetic language and artworks. Patients used it to share their experiences of living with ill health. for more information, please visitt LINK

KINDNESS

Kindness was a project working with older Jewish people, exploring ideas of the Holocaust, displacement and what it means to have a refugee background. Together we marked Holocaust Memorial Day with an art event 'bring light towards you' shown at Picciadilly Train Station in 2009, and at The Big Screen, Manchester 2011. For more information see LINK.

Lost Properties

This is an ongoing art project designed to encourage us think in new ways about Caring and Loss.

Lost Properties is a way to both celebrate care and simultaneously make a poignant momento of our human fragility and how easily we 'lose' our health. We give expression to a subject matter that rarely gets discussed or heard. The power of these statements draw in an audience and spark awareness of the issues.

We successfully piloted Lost Properties at Manchester Art Market in June of 2010, working with the general public. You can view photos of the artworks on-line http://www.flickr.com and read more on our blog http://arthur-and-martha.blogspot.com
