arthur+martha is a Community Interest Company, directed by artist Lois Blackburn and poet Philip Davenport. We specialise in artistic collaborations with older people. Our work was endorsed in the government-sponsored Invest to Save research on the effect of the arts on health, 2007. Lois and Philip have worked as a team for ten years in healthcare venues, residential homes, schools, community centres in the UK, and in the last couple of years internationally.

On June 11th 2007, arthur+martha CIC became incorporated under the Companies Act 1985 as a Community Interest Company.

CICs are a new form of company for Social Enterprises, introduced by the UK government in 2005. Operating surpluses and assets generated by any of arthur+martha CIC schemes will be reinvested for public good and future CIC projects. arthur+martha CIC continues to develop its unique, high quality community projects with Elderly People in the North West, run cross- generational work, offer consultancy and mentoring and manage artist commissions and residencies.
